Singer Featherweight 221

In April I was looking on ebay and found a very cheap Singer Featherweight 221.  Today I made her a little cover.

I was a bit apprehensive when I made the purchase. She needed some TLC, but she works great!!! The case...smells.  Ugh.  Did all I could to get the smell out, but they when these cases where made they used horse glue. Horse glue + moisture = AN Awful Stink.  Seems like all these original cases smell, but Still VERY happy with my purchase.

Here is a short video of before and after.

Zundt Pillows

Blue Center - Pink Flowers
Pink Center - Blue Flowers

I started making these two pillows years ago when I discovered the Zundt Designs.  I saw this pillow and fell in love!  The designs may be purchased here:

The pillow is made from 64 embroidered individual pieces and sewn together to make the top.

I used dissolvable stabilizer and embroidered several of the free-standing lace designs at once.  Once the designs are completed, I soaked each design in water to dissolve the stabilizer. Let them dry and sewed each piece together with invisible thread.

Well, they have been moved around for about 12 years or so. (if you sew, you will understand how that happens - LOL).  Each time they were lovingly placed away ~ I would sigh and returned them back to their storage area ~ no time to make them yet. Today I finally had time to make the pillow forms.  I sewed the embroidered pillow on a black background to bring out the beauty of the designs.

Now on to the next project!
